About this worksheet

Almost every Korean computer and phone uses the same keyboard layout, called 2-set or 두벌식. It is easier than it looks: all the consonants sit under your left hand and all the vowels under your right hand, so typing a word is a steady left-right rhythm. This free chart shows the whole layout on one page so you can keep it next to your keyboard while you learn.

Each key shows the Korean letter in large type, the English key it sits on and, where there is one, the Shift letter in the corner. The colors tell you which finger presses the key in standard touch typing, so you build the right habit from the first day instead of hunting with two fingers.

On the right you will find the seven Shift letters (the double consonants ㄲ ㄸ ㅃ ㅆ ㅉ and the vowels ㅒ ㅖ), the seven combined vowels such as ㅘ = ㅗ + ㅏ, and the rule for typing a block: first consonant, then vowel, then any bottom consonant. Your computer joins the letters into blocks for you.

The drill at the bottom is for recall: cover the keyboard and write the English key under each Korean letter. When you can do the full line in under a minute, move on to the free typing lessons.
