Korean keyboard layout (두벌식) — chart, fingers and setup
The standard Hangul keyboard on a US/QWERTY keyboard: which key types which Korean letter, which finger to use, and how to turn on Korean typing on every device.
Small letters at the top-left of a key appear with Shift: ㅃ ㅉ ㄸ ㄲ ㅆ (double consonants) and ㅒ ㅖ. Every other key types the same letter with or without Shift.

Combined vowels and double bottom consonants
These have no key of their own — type the two parts in a row: ㅘ=HK, ㅙ=HO, ㅚ=HL, ㅝ=NJ, ㅞ=NP, ㅟ=NL, ㅢ=ML. Bottom pairs work the same way: 닭 = EKFR, 없 = DJQT.
Turn on Korean typing on your device
- Windows 10/11: Settings → Time & language → Language & region → Add a language → Korean. Switch keyboards with Win+Space; inside Korean, Right Alt (the 한/영 key on Korean keyboards) toggles Hangul ↔ English.
- Mac: System Settings → Keyboard → Text Input → Edit → + → Korean → 2-Set Korean. Switch with Control+Space or the Globe/Caps Lock key, depending on your settings.
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard → Korean → Standard (this is the 2-set layout; 10-Key is a different phone layout). Tap the globe key to switch.
- Android (Gboard): Gboard settings → Languages → Add keyboard → Korean → choose the QWERTY-style layout (2-set / 두벌식) rather than the 10-key layouts. Hold or tap the globe/space key to switch.
- Chromebook: Settings → Device → Keyboard and inputs → Input → Add input methods → Korean.
