FAQ
- How is the chart calculated?
- The year pillar changes at Ipchun (Start of Spring) and the month pillar at each of the 12 sectional solar terms. Term times come from an astronomical model of the Sun's apparent longitude (VSOP87) and are compared to the minute; they match the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute's published times.
- What is true solar time?
- Clock time follows your time zone, not the Sun. The default longitude correction shifts your birth time to local mean solar time; 'true solar time' also adds the equation of time (up to ±16 minutes by season). This mainly affects births near the boundary of a two-hour block.
- I don't know my birth time.
- Tick 'Time unknown' and the chart uses three pillars (year, month, day). The element count is scaled to eight characters so it stays comparable.
- Is Saju the same as Chinese BaZi?
- They share the same four-pillar structure. This tool follows Korean conventions — Korean lunar calendar, Korean historical time zones and daylight saving — and uses Korean terms alongside English names.
- Do you store my birth data?
- No. The page has no server-side code; everything runs in your browser and disappears when you close or reload the page.
